Holiday Credit in Lieu of Saturday Holiday Posting Information

Action Required by Department: Share the following information with all departmental human resources (HR) employees and take appropriate action as necessary.

Description: The State Controller’s Office (SCO) Leave Accounting Program requests departments verify Holiday Credit, in Lieu of Saturday Holiday, for employees who were on a temporary separation or who had a non-qualifying pay period in the month of the holiday for both the December 25th and January 1st holidays.  Per Leave Accounting Letter 21-012, these employees should not have Holiday Credit in Lieu of Saturday Holiday time posted through the SCO’s automated process.  However, many of those employees had Holiday Credit time posted in error.  The SCO has voided all transactions for employees who had a non-qualifying pay period for the month of December and will complete the voids for the employees who have a non-qualifying January pay period during the first week of February.  For affected employees, departments should see a voided transaction in the Leave Accounting System and should proceed post the Holiday Credit for any employees who are eligible to receive the time.

For questions or concerns related to this issue, please contact the Leave Accounting Unit at (916) 327-0756 or via email at clas@sco.ca.gov.

Population Affected: Employees with a Non-qualifying Pay Period in December 2021 or January 2022
