Third Follow-up to December 2020 Pay Period - Employee Contributions for State Disability Insurance (SDI) Program
Action Required by Department: Share the following information with all departmental human resources (HR) employees. Please share this Employee Bulletin with impacted employees.
Description: On January 21, 2021, the State Controller’s Office (SCO) sent a communication to all departmental HR offices with information that the increase of 0.2% for SDI was not withheld from employees’ December 2020 pay period income, issued January 1, 2021. For those employees impacted, SCO established an Agency Collection Accounts Receivable (A/R) for the December 2020 pay period, to withhold 0.2% for SDI. On January 27, 2021, SCO sent a communication and asked HR offices to not take any collection steps. On February 12, 2021, SCO sent a communication and informed HR offices that Agency Collection A/Rs can be accessed via View Direct and Accounting offices will be provided with a paper copy of the A/Rs within the next several weeks
SCO has partnered with the California Department of Human Resources to discuss options for repayment. A final Broadcast Email will be sent to all departmental HR offices once a solution is confirmed.
