January 2025 Transaction Supervisors’ Forum Benefits Information Clarification
Action Required: Share the following information with all human resources (HR) office employees.
Description: This message is being sent out in partnership between the State Controller’s Office (SCO) and California Department of Human Resources (CalHR):
Please review the clarification below specific to some benefits information given at the January 2025 Transaction Supervisors’ forum (TSF).
- Vision Service Plan (VSP) Premier December 2024 Rate: SCO is aware that the December 2024 pay period deduction for existing VSP Premier participants was based on the 2024 rate instead of the 2025 rate. Starting January 2025, deductions will reflect the updated 2025 rate. The $0.17 cent difference in rates has been waived by VSP for December 2024 and there will be no retroactive deduction taken in the January 2025 warrant.
- Premier Vision VSP Enrollment Forms: As instructed on top of the Premier Vision Plan Enrollment form (CalHR-774), these forms should be sent directly to VSP. Please do not send these forms to SCO. For more information on this process, please review the CalHR Benefits Administration Manual - Vision Care Program and CalHR-774.
- FlexElect Cash Option, Consolidated Benefits (CoBen) Cash Option, and TRICARE Members: Employees covered under TRICARE are not eligible for FlexElect Cash Option or CoBen Cash Option. There is an exception for employees represented by Bargaining Unit 2. As of June 1, 2024, Rank and File employees in Bargaining Unit 2 that are covered under TRICARE are eligible for the CoBen Cash Option. For more information, please visit the CalHR Benefits Administration Manual - Consolidated Benefits (CoBen).
The full PowerPoint and notes from the January 2025 TSF will be released soon. To access previous forum notes, visit the Transaction Supervisors’ Forum webpage.
