April 2025 California Personal Income Tax Daily Revenue Tracker

April 15 is the normal annual personal income tax (PIT) payment deadline. However, for 2024, the Franchise Tax Board extended the deadline for Los Angeles County individuals and businesses in response to the fires that began on January 7, 2025.   Therefore, individuals and businesses impacted by the January 2025 fires qualify for a postponement to file and pay taxes until October 15, 2025.

General Fund PIT receipts for the current fiscal year (FY 2024-25) totaled $86.17 billion through March 31, which was $3.59 billion, or 4.34 percent, lower/higher than anticipated in the 2024-25 Governor’s Budget.
 
The FY 2024-25 Governor’s Budget estimated April 2025 PIT collections to total $17.37 billion. PIT receipts expected in April represent 8.33 percent of total General Fund revenues of $208.55 billion anticipated for the entire 2024-25 fiscal year.  
 
The chart below compares the running actual total to the estimate of April PIT receipts. The total consists of PIT receipts minus refunds.
