Scope of Position:
Under general direction provided by the Information Technology Supervisor II, The incumbent functions in software support for the Falcon key entry application, desktop support for the Disbursements Bureau utilizing SCO mainframe system and Microsoft Windows operating systems.  The incumbent acts in a support capacity with specialized hardware, software, and networking infrastructure needed to support enterprise mission critical computer systems in the Disbursements Bureau.  The position communicates effectively with all levels of staff, technical personnel, senior management, hardware and software vendors, and customer engineers.  Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

Duties and Responsibilities:

System Engineering

  • Develop and coordinate  complex information technology support and maintenance including:  providing hardware and software maintenance support by investigating, diagnosing and resolving problems; coordinate installation of PC hardware and software; installing PC hardware and software and customize systems and equipment for clients; provide training to Disbursements management and staff in the use of microcomputers, including new and upgraded versions of software and the advanced capabilities of new equipment; coordinate classroom PC training for Disbursements staff.
  • Procure, install, and test pilot equipment and software for the Disbursements Bureau.  Create test environment for software that may/may not be compatible with new technology.
  • Set up and maintain user/group profiles and access rights to LAN operations for all Disbursements staff through the Active Directory Console.
  • Evaluate change requests on existing systems and recommend solutions and courses of action; research and assets feasibility commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) products; analyze the impact of the integration between the existing systems and a COTS or third party owned product.

Software Engineering

  • Serve as lead in support of the Phoenix Software Falcon key data application.  Responsible for researching system requirements, analysis, and development processes of Phoenix software system utilizing standard system development methodology.  Develop data entry screens and output files for data entry software. Serve and first line support for data entry system after deployment. Develop backup and support documentation.

IT Project Management

  • Act as the co-lead on the management and maintenance of the existing and future Microsoft Access Databases used throughout the Disbursements Bureau.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to analyze and troubleshoot electronic file submissions utilizing TSO and JCL.
  • Knowledge of IT security best practices and development of IT security standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access.
  • Ability to communicate work status with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate while working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work while multi-tasking in a high paced, deadline driven work environment.
