Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and Other Reports

The State Controller’s Office (SCO) is adopting the recommendation from the Government Finance Officers Association to immediately change the name of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report. There is an increasing professional awareness that the report’s acronym, when pronounced aloud, sounds the same as a derogatory term historically used in South Africa as a racial slur towards Black Africans, with ties to Apartheid. Consistent with guidance under development by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, SCO will change the name to the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), beginning with the report dated June 30, 2020.
